Tips on finding a job after university

Are you set to graduate from university this summer? Whether you’ve finished already or you’re undertaking your final exams, it will soon be time to start the search for your first graduate position.

Here at The Business Connection, we recruit for positions including HR, Administration and Marketing, some of which are suitable for graduates! Check out our top tips to help you get your foot in the door.

Start early

When looking for a job after university, we recommend starting early. If you start searching straight after your final assessments/exams, you will have a stronger chance of getting noticed compared to waiting until after you’ve graduated, when a majority of students will start job hunting.

Boost your CV

Whilst applying for jobs, it may be worthwhile sourcing relevant work experience to help boost your CV. Getting experience will make your CV standout against other graduate candidates and will help your understanding of the industry for when you get to interviews.

Upload your CV to online job sites

A good way of getting noticed by both recruiters and businesses is uploading your CV to online job sites. Ensure your CV is up to date and follows a clear format as well as an opening line on what it is you are looking for to help your CV standout.
