Staying safe in the workplace

While we all stay safe at home, our incredible key workers continue to head into work each day to do their bit to keep Britain moving.

With that in mind, we have put together some simple steps you can take to maintain your mental and physical well-being whilst working throughout this Pandemic.

1. Wash your hands regularly

Scrub your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds, before rinsing off with warm water. Remember to use a tissue to turn off the tap and use a single-use paper towel to fully dry your hands.

2. Keep your workspace clean and tidy

Use surface spray / antibacterial wipes and clean your workstation daily. Communal areas such as doorknobs and handrails should also be disinfected on a regular basis.

3. Keep active

During these challenging times, it is important to maintain your physical health. Take time during your day to fit in some exercise – walking outdoors is a great way to keep fit if you follow social distancing guidelines. If you would prefer to stay at your desk, search for some desk yoga you can do without leaving your chair.

4. Coughs and sneezes spread diseases… so catch it in a tissue!

Make sure to dispose of the tissue immediately after use. If you don’t have tissues handy, use the crook of your elbow. Don’t forget to wash your hands after every cough or sneeze.

5. Limit physical contact

Swap out handshakes and hugs for non-contact greetings. Where possible, remain 2m away from your colleagues.

6. Avoid touching your face as much as possible

Touching your eyes, nose and mouth is one of the most common ways people contract diseases.

7. Limit meetings

Essential meetings should be held over video conferencing rather than face-to-face. Where this is not an option, meetings should be held in a well-ventilated room.

8. Take care of your mental well-being

Pandemics are stressful and provoke anxiety for everyone. Make sure to reach out to friends, family and colleagues if you need additional support. #ITSOK2ASK
