We’re looking to recruit an experienced, driven, R&D tax professional with a successful track record of preparing robust R&D project reports and supporting calculations. The R&D Tax Manager will be required to oversee their own client portfolio with support from other team members, assisting clients competently throughout the entire R&D tax credit process. The R&D Tax Manager role involves:
Preparation & review of technical R&D tax credit claims for a wide variety of clients – under both the SME scheme and RDEC scheme – for partner review
Support clients during HMRC audits and enquiries related to R&D tax claims, addressing queries, and providing necessary documentation.
Management of overall client engagement, communicating with clients and stakeholders throughout the entire claim process, building & maintaining relationships
Mentor junior members of the team, being responsible for their development & training
Leading client meetings and being responsible for extracting the key information required to prepare the claim
Analyse financial data, cost breakdowns, and project budgets to determine eligible R&D expenditures and appropriate tax credit calculations.
Provide technical advice and support to clients, updating them on any legislative changes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the firm, including audit and tax professionals, accountants, grant specialists to ensure successful R&D tax credit outcomes for clients.
Effective planning of work schedule, ensuring all deadlines are met
Ensuring the firm’s technical and compliance procedures are always adhered to
Undertake business development activities to grow the R&D offering
You will:
Be an excellent communicator, with the ability to liaise across all levels of seniority
Be self-motivated and able to show initiative
Be accurate and able to work well under pressure
Have the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects whilst meeting strict deadlines
Demonstrate sound technical judgement
Have the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with new and current clients
Be able to drive with a willingness to travel to client meetings if needed in own vehicle (expenses reimbursed)
Experience
Ideally, CTA qualified and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
Possess detailed working knowledge of the entire R&D tax credit process with experience in preparing robust claims, including project writing
Must be able to demonstrate technical knowledge of R&D tax credit legislation and guidance
