Hygiene Lead

The Hygiene Lead will be working with one of the UK’s best-known brands, at their site on the Wrexham Industrial Park. The Hygiene Lead will develop and maintain local processes, to ensure that global and regional policies and procedures are followed in order to maintain the highest standards of hygiene within the site.

 
The company are not looking for someone to lead a cleaning team – they are looking for someone to lead the sanitation and hygiene process at the site.
 
The Hygiene Lead will be working Monday to Friday 8-5, though there is some flexibility for the right candidate. You will be rewarded with a bonus based on recognition and reward, a company pension scheme, staff discount, and a uniform.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sanitation and hygiene is not just cleaning, it is a combination a of several elements of Food Safety linked to hygiene.
Ensuring that sanitation advice given is accurate, legal and protects the individual and the company. Accountable for ensuring that key personnel are aware of the sanitation standards and procedures in place, including owning Sanitation Operator Training. Carry out all investigations in a full, accurate and professional manner, resulting in suitable recommendations.
 

Cleaning:

Development and maintenance of a schedule for cleaning all areas of the site, using risk assessment to determine cleaning method and frequency – daily, weekly, monthly, annual
Maintenance and development on cleaning procedures
Development and maintenance of verification and validation activities against cleaning processes
Auditing against cleaning schedule
Reporting on associated KPIs
Managing the cleaning chemical contract – ensuring correct products are ordered within budget

Pest Management:

Lead for the integrated pest management program including managing the service contract, liaising with the Pest Contractor
Primary contact for all pest related issues

Environmental Monitoring:

Development and maintenance of the plant pathogen swabbing program and associated plant hygiene programs

 
ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Relevant experience of working in a food manufacturing environment
Level 4 Food Hygiene
Level 4 HACCP
Understanding and application of basic microbiological principles
In depth knowledge of food borne pathogens
Thorough knowledge of hygiene and sanitation principles
Food legislation and industry guidance
Allergens and correct procedures for cleaning allergens
Knowledge of infestation and Pest Management
Computer literacy – MS Office

 
DESIREABLE:

Degree in Food Science or equivalent
BPCA Level 2 in Pest Management
Level 4 Sanitation Operator Training – SOT

 
The ideal candidate for this role will be highly motivated and will demonstrate an eye for detail and high level of conscientiousness. Will need to be able to operate within procedures, whilst open to improvements and modifications and be proactive in developing systems. Strong communication skills are essential, both on a one to one basis and through the delivery of formal group presentations and management of meetings.
The role holder will have excellent organisational, planning and problem solving capabilities.
